<p>An der Basis stehen die Stärke enthaltenden Grundnahrungsmittel wie Brot, Reis und Nudeln (6 bis 11 Anteile). Auf der nächst höheren Ebene befinden sich Gemüse und Obst (jeweils 2 bis 3 Anteile). Die dritte Stufe nehmen eiweißreichen Nahrungsmittel wie Milch und Milchprodukte (2 bis 3 Anteile) einerseits sowie Fleisch, Fisch, Geflügel, Eier, Nüsse und Bohnen (2 bis 3 Anteile). An der Spitze der Pyramide sind Fette, Öle und Zucker zu finden, von denen nur wenig konsumiert werden sollte.</p>
